Crab Dinner . 蟹肉晚餐




It's easy to have a crab meal at home if you have stocked the canned crab meat in your fridge. I usually keep a few cans of one--pound jumbo lumps and special lumps in the house, so whenever I want to have pan-fried crab cakes, crab meat tartar or even crab chowder, I could have it done very quickly. The popular brand of crab meat here in Hong Kong is Phillips, you could get it easily in the big supermarket like City'super.  In the US, there are many brands available in most of the supermarkets like Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Target and even at Amazon; and in the UK, many supermarkets carry canned crab meat as well like in Waitrose.

Besides western dishes, I use canned crab meat for Chinese dishes as well. It's very versatile and easy to handle, you could omit the time-consuming work like getting the fresh crabs, wash, clean, steam or boil them and hand-pick the meat out from the shell. 

And today, I had the whole dinner prepared with canned crab meat: crab meat tartar on homemade toasted bread, crab meat and wild mushroom soup, pan-fried Maryland style crab cakes, and Angel hair with crab meat and truffle oil.





如果家裡常備雪藏罐裝蟹肉,想吃全蟹宴也沒難度。我家冰箱就常備多罐一磅裝的罐裝蟹肉;有做煎蟹餅的碎蟹肉和做蟹肉他他或沙律的一球球蟹肉;而煮西式蟹肉濃湯就用那一種也可以。雪藏盒裝蟹肉一般在香港的大型超市也找得到。在歐美等地,選擇更多,各大超市都很容易買到。

除了用罐裝蟹肉做西菜,我很多時也會用它來煑中菜,貪其方便好用,省卻四圍去找鮮蟹、洗、蒸和拆肉的麻煩。

今晚的西式蟹肉晚餐有蟹肉牛油果他他伴自家製脆包,蟹肉野菌濃湯,瑪利蘭州蟹餅和松露油蟹肉天使麵。好味道!
